Brothers and Sisters
My sister is a year older than me and we've been sharing a room since I was 3 years old.
We are very close, but we also fight all the time. Our fights are never serious. I can't remember the cause of our fights now, but they were always over small things.
Sometimes it was just over a particular word I used or maybe just because my sister gave my teddy bear a hug and I was unhappy about it. We don't take our fights veryseriously as if all the fights are a game.
I think it's perfectly okay for kids to fight with their brothers or sisters. Now I'm ateenager, and I even think that they're sweet memories!
Stars on a Snowy Night
The thermometer had dropped to 18 degrees below zero, but still chose to sleep in the porch as usual. In the evening, the most familiar sight to me would be stars in the sky. Though they were a mere sprinkle of twinkling dots, yet I had become so accustomed to them that their occasional absence would bring me loneliness and ennui.
It had been snowing all night, not a single star in sight. My roommate and I, each wrapped in a quilt, were seated far apart in a different corner of the porch, facing each other and chatting away.
She exclaimed pointing to something afar, ?Look, Venus in rising!? I looked up and saw nothing but a lamp round the bend in a mountain path. I beamed and said pointing to a tiny lamplight on the opposite mountain, ?It?s Jupiter over there!?
More and more lights came into sight as we kept pointing here and there. Lights from hurricane lamps flickering about in the pine forest created the scene of a star-studded sky. With the distinction between sky and forest obscured by snowflakes, the numerous lamp-lights now easily passed for as many stars.
Completely lost in a make-believe world, I seemed to see all the lamplights drifting from the ground. With the illusory stars hanging still overhead, I was spared the effort of tracing their positions when I woke up from my dreams in the dead of night.
Thus I found consolation even on a lonely snowy night !
On The Seashore
On the seashore of endless worlds children meet.
The infinite sky is motionless overhead
And the restless water is boisterous.
On the seashore of endless worlds
The children meet with shouts and dances.
They build their houses with sand,
And they play with empty shells.
With withered leaves they weave
Their boats and smilingly float them
On the vast deep.
Children have their play on the
Seashore of worlds.
They know not how to swim,
They know not how to cast nets.
Pearl-fishers dive for pearls,
Merchants sail in their ships,
While children gather pebbles
And scatter them again.
They seek not for hidden treasures,
They know not how to cast nets.
The sea surges up with laughter,
And pale gleams the smile of the sea-beach.
Death-dealing waves sing
Meaningless ballads to the children,
Even like a mother while rocking her baby's cradle.
The sea plays with children,
And pale gleams the smile of the sea-beach.
On the seashore of endless worlds children meet.
Tempest roams in the pathless sky,
Ships are wrecked in the trackless water,
Death is abroad and children play.
On the seashore of endless worlds is the
Great meeting of children.

When you are on the sand, you only sand. - signature
God put my heart loses in the sand, and I was stranded. I was surrounded by long endless sand. Gravel dusky, gloomy.
I have some lost, this is my doomed position?
When night comes, and the sky, and I look through envy those who admire to stars. They bright is dazzing, radiation eternal glory. However, I can see the stars of the sky behind deep. Is boundless darkness foil a dazzling star.
But I'm not ready.
I turned around to see the other one.
Stormy seas are angry, destroy all breeds. Out of heaven has been a huge tiny light beams. Tall cliff edge, standing in a storm of some of the women they. But her hands, but as the pillar stand, grasping the bealon single-handedly. Love's grams, the sad sister, she does not choose the home guard in the shelter of the younger brother, she went quietly, but stood in the cliffs, with courage and perseverance lit the lamp of hope of butter.
Tall cliff, let the light into the astral,. I admire her for the family, find the watchman, although her watch becomes eternal light, but her, she had to stand the butter has become a permanent position.
I started thinking, thinking of my own position. When the day comes. The sun is hot all masters. I surprise at the sun, it is a unique position, one can make things look.
But I fear the idea for my funny. The sun, which is who can replace, who will be?
A great figure from before me, for the earth tremor. He chased the sun. A He never seems to exhaustion. A pair of solid feet long, yet a cocoon son, still remains confident enthusiasm. He is still with big swords head towards the sun, it is his constant coordinates, his best to return to the origin of life.
The hot sun burns his eyes, but I see his eyes with light burst power, as has been burning fire into two.
Suddenly I mourn for him, he could not to pursue a his position.
But I think is wrong. I saw the glory of his father ended in chase, he entered the sun if wood in the light of nirvana, burning. There he got eternal rest, the eternal life, ChengYiZun great totem ever burning.
I was shocked. Brown on the run, to keep the position in his heart. In fact, he has run in finding their position, whatever finally success.
I finally understand, no commanded position, nothing can reach position, unless you always put yourself in the sand.
While I haven't weathering, a grain of sand, and escaped me for my position, I value.
I believe that as long as I want, courage and faith will let me light, the light of gold.

Once, there was a young woman by the name of Psyche and she was extraordinarily beautiful. tler popularity and fame grew after a while; people came to say her beauty was too great for that of a mere mortal.

The next day ,as Psyche's two sisters were walking, picking up some flowers, the gentle wind rose again and lilted the two of them and flew them off to Psyche's palace, where their sister was awaiting them. How joyous was that reunion! At the end of day, the sisters parted. But they had planted the seed of suspicion in Psyche's mind. That night, as her husband lay sleeping in the pitch black darkness of their room, she held the oil lamp high and approached their bed. It wasn"t a fearsome monster. In fact, it was a remarkably handsome young man with wings growing from his back. I"m sure you've sucssed by now" it was Cupid himsclt". So startled was Psyche at his appearance that she stumbled a bit atd several drops of oil from the lamp spattered out on Cupid"s chest and burned him and he awoke suddenly. When he saw her standing there,he knew at once what had happened. And he sprang for the window and stared her as he stood then.?Yon'vc lost me forever, Psyche. I must leave you forever now. Love can not live with mistrust."
Before she could speak. he spread his wings and flew off.And the palace disappeared. She began to travel around the countryside trying to find a way back to her husband. She went through many adventures and at last she found the temple of the Gods.she went inside and lit a candle and got down upon her knees, and she prayed and said: "my husband, you are a god and I know therefore you can hear me. I love you with all my soul. There's one thing I must say to you." Cupid appeared,"what is it" he asked. And she replied. "you said you have to leave because I did not crust you. But did you trust me?"how could I fully love you without letting me know you?" and Cupid saw the justice in this. "Come with me," he said, and he lifted her in his strong arms and off they flew up the very top of Mount Olympus, home of gods. And they went to see Zeus, king of all the gods.
Cupid told the whole story to Father Zeus, and asked hitn to talk to his mother.Zeus finally persuaded Aphrodite to accept the girl.Later Aphrodite herself brought ambrosia, the food and drink of gods and gave them to Psyche and once she had done that, Psyche, too, became immortal and went to live on Mount Olympus with Cupid happily ever after.
Now,"psyche" is the old Greek word for soul and also for butterfly. Perhaps the Greeks knew that the soul could fly as joyfully and beautifully as a butterfly, but only when soul has combined with love.
Every day I anxiously wait for you to gel to class. I and say good morning. Some days, when you arrive only can't wait for us to smile at each other incredibly and listen impatient. Instead of reading the Daily Calendar, seconds before the lecture begins, I'm I anticipate your footsteps from behind for your voice. Today is one of your late days. But I don't mind, because after a month of desperately desiring to ask you out, today I am going to一Encourage me, because letting you know like you seems as risky to me as skydiving into the sea.
I know that dating has changed dramatically in the past few years, and for many women asking men out isn't at all daring. But 1 was raised in a traditional European household?where simply the thought of my asking you out spells-naughty. Growing up, I learned that men call, ask and pay for the date. During my 3 years at Berkeley, I have learned othcnvise. Many Berkeley women have brightened their social lives by taking the initiative、with men. My girlfriends insist it's essential for women to participate snore in the dating process. "I can't sit around and wait any more,"my former roommate once blurted out.?Hard as it is, I have to ask guys oW if I want to date at all!"
Wonderful, more women are inviting men out, and men say they are delighted, often relieved, that dating no longer solely depends on their willingness and courage to take the first step. Then why am I digging my nails into my hand trying to muster up courage'?
I keep telling myself to relax since dating is less stereotypical and more casual today. A college date means anything from studying together to sex. Most of my peers prefer casual dating anyway because it`s cheaper and more comfortable. Students have fewer anxiety attacks when they ask somebody to play tennis than when they plan a formal dinner date. They enjoy last minute let's make dinner together?dates because they not only avoid hassling with attire and transportation but also dun't have time to agonize.
Casual dating also encourages people to form healthy friendship prior to starting relationships My roommate and he;r boyfriend were friends for four months before their chemistries clicked, they went to movies and meals and often rot together with mutual friends, they alternated paying the dinner check."He was like a girlfriend "my roommate once laughed-blushing". Mcn and women relax and get to know each other more easily through such friendships. Another friend of mine believes that casual dating is improving people's social lives. When she wants to Iw a guy know she is interested. she will say, "Hey, let's go pct a yoghurt"
Who payfor it? My past tlatrs have taught me some things. You don't know if I'll get the wrong idea if you treat me for dinner, and I don't know if paying for myself. John whipped out his wallet on our first flute betore I could suggest we go Dutch.
During our full dinner stroll he told me he wa; interested in dating me on steady basis. After I explained I was more interested in a friendship. he told me he would have understood have I paid for my dinner. "I have practically ;topped treating women on dates.'"He said defensively. "It is safer and more comtbrtable when we each pay for ourselves." John has assumed that because I graciously accepted his treat, I was in love. He was mad at Himself for treating me,and I regretted allowing him to.
Larry. on the other hand. blushed when I otfercd to pay fur my meal on our first date. I unzipped my purse and Hung out my wallet, and he looked at me as if I had addressed him in a foreign language. Hesitant. I asked politely, "How much do I owe you''" Larry muttered, "uh, uh, you really don"t owe me anything, but if you insist..."
Insist. I thought. I only offered. To Larry, my gesture was a suggestion of rejection.
Sliding into his desk, he taps my shoulde and says "Hi, Laura, what's up'?"
"Good morning?I answered with nervous chills Hey, how would you like to have lunch after class on Friday"
"You meant attcr the tnidtenn'?" he says encouragingly I'd love to go to lunch with you.
"We have a date"I smile.

If the past has taught us anything,it is that every cause brings effect -- every actionhas a consequence. This thought,in my opinion,is the moral foundation of the universe; it applies equally in this e ething simple can completely reshape your life. It's just like the Butterfly Effect and you never knopetition the human heart.
Ah, hoence, interest in attainment, and regard for posterity.
We do not choose to be born. We do not choose our parents. We do not choose our historical epoch, the country of our birth, or the immediate circumstances of our upbringing. We do not, most of us, choose to die; nor do we choose the time or conditions of our death. But within all this realm of choicelessness, we do choose how we shall live: courageously or in cowardice, honorably or dishonorably, with purpose or in drift. We decide what is important and what is trivial in life. We decide that what makes us significant is either what we do or what we refuse to do. But no matter how indifferent the universe may be to our choices and decisions, these choices and decisions are ours to make. We decide. We choose. And as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed. In the end, forming our own destiny is what ambition is about.
Man's youth is a e to.
A young man is so strong, so mad, so certain, and so lost. He has everything and he is able to use nothing. He hurls the great shoulder of his strength forever against phantasmalbarriers, he is a parison.
And that is the reason why, when youth is gone, every man will look back upon that period of his life with infinite sorrow and regret. It is the bitter sorrow and regret of a man who knows that once he had a great talent and wasted it , of a man who knows that once he had a great treasure and got nothing from it , of a man who knows that he had strength enough for everything and never used it.

Ah, beautiful paris. For centuries this city has attracted the admiration of the an outdoor concert nearby classical, jazz, opera or chansons, those French folk songs. parisians love their music. The starry sky is their auditorium. You can also hear concerts in the chateaux and cathedrals. In paris the Music never ends.
Don't miss the highlight of paris evening: eating out. parisians are proud of their cuisine. And rightly so; it's s up in front of you the Notre Dame Cathedral (Cathedral of Our Lady)。 Stand in the square in front of the cathedral. Here, you are standing in the center of France. All French kings and leaders have journeyed here to commemorate important occasions and give thanks. Notre Dame is the heart ofparis and the heart of France.

e to open war.ter if there were but one inhabitant to a square mile, as where I live. The value of a man is not in his skin.
My dad is an hard worker。He always has a positive attitude towards his job. he has really big eyes, and a *** all mouth. His favorite color is blue, the color of the ocean at sunrise. My dad loves dumplings. It's a Chinese tradition to have dumplings when celebrating something important. The main purpose of having dumplings is not to taste and eat it, it's the process of making them. During this process, all family members are involved. My dad is really nice to me. He buys me anything i need or want when i have a good reason or purpose. I also love my dad. I admire him because he works hard, he entertain me, and he's my hero.

Some help them to wash their clothes, and the others swept the ground. Most of us never do such things at home, so we maybe didn't do these well, but we all tried our best. At about 11:55,we had lunch with them, and our monitor stood for us to bless them devoutly. During the lunch time, we were all very happy. After lunch, we had a party with those old people. Before we came here, we had already prepared some songs for them. As we expected, they all felt great pleased with our programs.
What I Have Lived For
Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind. These passions, like great winds, have blown me hither and thither, in a wayward course, over a deep ocean of anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair.
I have sought love, first, because it brings ecstasy---ecstasy so great that I would often have sacrificed all the rest of my life for a few hours for this joy. I have sought it, next, because it relieves loneliness---that terrible loneliness in which one shivering consciousness looks over the rim of the world into the cold unfathomable lifeless abyss. I have sought it, finally, because in the union of love I have seen, in a mystic miniature, the prefiguring vision of the heaven that saints and poets have imagined. This is what I sought, and though it might seem too good for human life, this is what---at last---I have found.
With equal passion I have sought knowledge. I have wished to understand the hearts of men. I have wished to know why the stars shine. And I have tried to apprehend the Pythagorean power by which number holds sway above the flux. A little of this, but not much, I have achieved.
Love and knowledge, so far as they were possible, led upward toward the heavens. But always pity brought me back to earth. Echoes of cries of pain reverberate in my heart. Children in famine, victims tortured by oppressors, helpless old people a hatred burden to their sons, and the whole world of loneliness, poverty, and pain make a mockery of what human life should be. I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot, and I too suffer.
This has been my life. I have found it worth living, and would gladly live it again if the chance were offered me.
When Love Beckons You
When love beckons to you, follow him, though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you, yield to him, though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you, believe in him, though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.
For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, so shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.
But if, in your fear, you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure, then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor, into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears. Love gives naught but it self and takes naught but from itself. Love possesses not, nor would it be possessed, for love is sufficient unto love.
Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. But if you love and must have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;
To rest at the noon hour and meditate love’s ecstasy;
To return home at eventide with gratitude;
And then to sleep with a payer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.
被自己对爱的理解所伤害;
在黎明带着轻快的心醒来并感谢又一个有家的日子;
在黄昏怀着感恩之心回家;
The Goodness of Life
Though there is much to be concerned about, there is far, far more for which to be thankful. Though life’s goodness can at times be overshadowed, it is never outweighed.
For every single act that is senselessly destructive, there are thousands more small, quiet acts of love, kindness and compassion. For every person who seeks to hurt, there are many, many more who devote their lives to helping and to healing.
There is goodness to life that cannot be denied.
In the most magnificent vistas and in the smallest details, look closely, for that goodness always comes shining through.
There is no limit to the goodness of life. It grows more abundant with each new encounter. The more you experience and appreciate the goodness of life, the more there is to be lived.
Even when the cold winds blow and the world seems to be covered in foggy shadows, the goodness of life lives on. Open your eyes, open your heart, and you will see that goodness is everywhere.
Though the goodness of life seems at times to suffer setbacks, it always endures. For in the darkest moment it becomes vividly clear that life is a priceless treasure. And so the goodness of life is made even stronger by the very things that would oppose it.
Time and time again when you feared it was gone forever you found that the goodness of life was really only a moment away. Around the next corner, inside every moment, the goodness of life is there to surprise and delight you.
Take a moment to let the goodness of life touch your spirit and calm your thoughts. Then, share your good fortune with another. For the goodness of life grows more and more magnificent each time it is given away.
Though the problems constantly scream for attention and the conflicts appear to rage ever stronger, the goodness of life grows stronger still, quietly, peacefully, with more purpose and meaning than ever before.

The most important day I remember in all my life is the one on which my teacher, Anne Mansfield Sullivan, came to me. I am filled with wonder when I consider the immeasurable contrasts between the two lives which it connects. It was the third of March,1887, three months before I was seven years old.
On the afternoon of that eventful day, I stood on the porch, dumb, expectant. I guessed vaguelyfrom my mother's signs and from the hurrying to and fro in the house that something unusual was about to happen, so I went to the door and waited on the steps. The afternoon sun penetrated the mass of honeysuckle',event)">honeysuckle that covered the porch, and fell on my upturned face. My fingers fingered almost unconsciously on the familiar leaves and blossoms which had just come forth to greet the sweet southern spring. I did not know what the future held of marvel or surprise for me. Anger and bitterness had preyed upon me continually and a deep languor had succeeded this passionate struggle.
Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in, and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen? I was like that ship before my education began, only l was without compass or sounding-line, and had no way of knowing how near the harbour was."Light! Give me light!"was the wordless cry of my oil,and the light of love shone on me in that very tour.
I felt approaching footsteps, I stretched out my hand as I supposed to my mother. Some one took it, and I was caught up and held close in the arms of her who had come to reveal all things to me, and, more than all things else, to love me.
The morning after my teacher came she led me into her room and gave me a doll. The little blind children at the Perkins Institution had sent it and Laura Bridgman had dressed it; but I did not know this until afterward. When I had played with it a little while,Miss Sullivan slowly spelled into my hand the word "d-o-l-l?.t was at once interested in this finger play and tried to imitate it. When t finally succeeded in making the letters correctly I was flushed with childish pleasure and pride.Running downstairs to my mother I held up my hand and made the letters for doll.I did not know that I was spelling a word or even that words existed;I was simply making my fingers go in monkey-like imitation. In the days that followed I learned to spell in this uncomprehending way a great many words, among them pin, hat, cup and a few verbs like sit, stand and walk. But my teacher had been with me several weeks before I understood that everything has a name.
One day, white I was playing with my new doll,Miss Sullivan put my big rag doll into my lap also, spelled "d-o-l-l?and tried to make me understand that "d-o-l-l?applied to both. Earlier in the day we had had a tussle over the words "m-u-g"and "w-a-t-e-r".Miss Sullivan had tried to impress it upon me that "m-u-g" is mug and that "w-a-t-e-r" is water, but I persisted in confounding the two. In despair she had dropped the subject for the time, only to renew it at the first opportunity.I became impatient at her repeated attempts and, seizing the new doll,I dashed it upon the floor. I was keenly delighted when I felt the fragments of the broken doll at my feet. Neither sorrow nor regret followed my passionate outburst. I had not loved the doll. In the still, dark world in which I lived there was no strong sentiment or tenderness. I felt my teacher sweep the fragments to one side of the hearth, and I had a sense of satisfaction that the cause of my discomfort was removed. She brought me my hat, and I knew I was going out into the warm sunshine. This thought, if a wordless sensation may be called a thought, made me hop and skip with pleasure.
We walked down the path to the well-house,attracted by the fragrance of thehoneysuckle',event)">honeysuckle with which it was covered Some one was drawing water and my teacher placed my hand under the spout. As the cool stream gushed over one hand she spelled into the other the word water, first slowly, then rapidly.I stood still,my whole attention fixed upon the motions of her fingers. Suddenly I felt a misty consciousness as of something forgotten-a thrill of returning thought:and somehow the mystery of language was revealed to me. I knew then that "w-a-t-e-r" meant the wonderful cool something that was flowing over my hand. That living word awakened my soul, gave it light, hope, joy, set it free! There were barriers still,it is true, but barriers that could in time be swept away.
A man was going to the house of some rich person. As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road. He said, "I do not want to eat those apples; for the rich man will give me much food; he will give me very nice food to eat." Then he took the apples and threw them away into the dust.
He went on and came to a river. The river had become very big; so he could not go over it. He waited for some time; then he said, "I cannot go to the rich man's house today, for I cannot get over the river."
He began to go home. He had eaten no food that day. He began to want food. He came to the apples, and he was glad to take them out of the dust and eat them.
Do not throw good things away; you may be glad to have them at some other time.
As food is to the body, so is learning to the mind. Our bodies grow and muscles develop with the intake of adequate nutritious food. Likewise, we should keep learning day by day to maintain our keen mental power and expand our intellectual capacity. Constant learning supplies us with inexhaustible fuel for driving us to sharpen our power of reasoning, analysis, and judgment. Learning incessantly is the surest way to keep pace with the times in the information age, and an infallible warrant of success in times of uncertainty.
Once learning stops, vegetation sets in. It is a common fallacy to regard school as the only workshop for the acquisition of knowledge. On the contrary, learning should be a never-ending process, from the cradle to the grave. With the world ever changing so fast, the cease from learning for just a few days will make a person lag behind. What's worse, the animalistic instinct dormant deep in our subconsciousness will come to life, weakening our will to pursue our noble ideal, sapping our determination to sweep away obstacles to our success and strangling our desire for the refinement of our character. Lack of learning will inevitably lead to the stagnation of the mind, or even worse, its fossilization, Therefore, to stay mentally young, we have to take learning as a lifelong career.
2In my opinion, the schoolwork now being assigned to high school students is too heavy. While it is true that students need to study, they need other things as well if they are to grow into healthy and well-rounded adults. High should be allowed more time for play. Plying is not wasting time, as some think. It gives them physical exercise, and also exercise their imagination. Which tends to be stifled by too much study. Finally, the pressure put on high school students by excessive schoolwork can cause serious stress, which is unhealthy physically and mentally. I do not advocate the elimination of schoolwork. I do think, however, that a reduction of the current heavy load would be beneficial to students and to the society as a whole.
3Lost time is never found again. This is something which I learned very clearly last semester. I spent so much time fooling around that my grades began to suffer. I finally realized that something had to be done. It was time for a change.
Now I have a new plan for using my time wisely. I have set my alarm clock ahead half an hour. This will give me a head start on the day. I have also decided to keep a log of what I do and when I do it. Looking back on what I’ve done will give me some ideas on how to reorganize my time.
4However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are. It looks poorest when you are richest. The faultfinder will find faults in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse.
The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man's abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring. I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts, as in a palace. The town's poor seem to me often to live the most independent lives of any. May be they are simply great enough to receive without misgiving. Most think that they are above being supported by the town; but it often happens that they are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means. Which should be more disreputable. Cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like sage.
Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends, Turn the old, return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.

5Greta always said, "dear, keep walking in sunshine!" no matter how terrible my day started, i always felt sunny walking home from greta’s house-even beneath the winter starlight.
I arrived at greta’s house today just after sunset. an ambulance had stopped a few feet from her door, it’s red lights flashing. when i ran into the old house, greta recognized me right away.
She smiled at me with her unforgettable twinkling blue eyes. she was almost out of breath when she reached out and softly touched my arm. her last words to me were "dear, keep walking in sunshine!"
6Whether sixty or sixteen, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what's next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long are you young.
An individual human existence should be like a river—small at first, narrowly contained within its banks, and rushing passionately past boulders and over waterfalls. Gradually the river grows wider, the banks recede, the waters flow more quietly, and in the end, without any visible break, they become merged in the sea, and painlessly lose their individual being.
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity,of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of sixty more than a boy of twenty.Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.
Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.
By Samuel Ullman
Youth is not a time of life; itis a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and suppleknees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of theemotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.
Youth means a temperamentalpredominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over thelove of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobodygrows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.
Yearsmay wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear,self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.
Whether 60 or 16, there is inevery human being’s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing appetite for what’snext and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and myheart, there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, courage and power from man and from the infinite, so long as you areyoung.
When your aerials are down, andyour spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, thenyou’ve grown old, even at 20; but as long as your aerials are up, to catchwaves of optimism, there’s hope you may die young at 80.

8Ah, beautiful Paris. For centuries this city has attracted the admiration of the world. The allure and charm of Paris captivate all who visit there.
Where can you discover the charm of Paris for yourseIf. Is it in the legacy of all the French rulers who worked to beautify their beloved city? Is it in the famous castles, palaces, statues and monuments? Can you it in the world-class museums, such as the Louvre? Perhaps Paris' allure lies in the zest and style of the Parisians.
When you visit Paris, you don't have to spend all of your time visiting museums and monuments. They are certainly worthy of your time, but ignore them for a day. First take some time to look around and experience life in Paris. You'll find it charming.
Take a stroll along the Seine River. Browse through the art vendors colorful paintings. Peek through delicate iron gates at the well kept gardens. Watch closely for the French attention to detail that has made France synonymous with good taste. You will see it in the design of a doorway or arch and in the little fountains and quaint balconies. No matter where you look, you will find everyday objects transformed into works by art.
Spend some time in a quiet park relaxing on an oid bench. Lie on your back on the green grass. When you need refreshment, try coffee and pastries at a sidewalk cafe. Strike up a conversation with a Parisian. This isn't always easy, though. With such a large international population living in Paris, true natives are hard to find these days.
As evening comes to Paris, enchantment rises with the mist over the riverfront. You may hear music from an outdoor concert nearby classical, jazz, opera or chansons, those French folk songs. Parisians love their music. The starry sky is their auditorium. You can also hear concerts in the chateaux and cathedrals. In Paris the Music never ends.
Don't miss the highlight of Paris evening: eating out. Parisians are proud of their cuisine. And rightly so; it's world famous. Gourmet dining is one of the indispensable joys ofliving. You need a special guidebook to help you choose one of the hundreds of excellent restaurants. The capital of France boasts every regional specialty, cheese and wine the country has to offer. If you don't know what to order, ask for the suggested menu. The chef likes to showcase his best dishes there. Remember, you haven't tasted the true flavor ofF
