It was a sunny summer day. A fox was passing by a vineyard. Looking at the ripe grapes, the fox exclaimed, 'How delicious they must be!' The fox really wanted to taste the grapes.

　"Little red-cap," replied the wolf. "She is bringing cake and wine. Open the door."

　So he went into the room, and when he came to the bed, he saw that the wolf was lying in it. " I find you here, you old sinner(罪人)," said he. "I he looked for you everywhere!" Then just as he was going to fire at him, it occurred to him that the wolf might he devoured the old woman. She might still be sed, so he did not fire, but took a pair of scissors(剪刀), and began to cut open the stomach(胃)of the sleeping wolf. He saw the little red-cap shining, and then he made two snips(剪) more, and the little girl jumped out, crying, "Ah, how frightened! How dark it was inside the wolf." And after that the old grandmother came out alive also, but scarcely(简直不) able to breathe(呼吸). Red-cap, however, quickly picked great stones and they filled the wolf's belly(腹部), and when he awoke, he wanted to run away, but the stones were so hey that he collapsed(倒塌) at once, and fell dead.

　Then all three were hy. The huntsman drew off the wolf's skin and went home with it. The grandmother ate the cake and drank the wine, and she felt better. Little red-cap thought to herself, " I will never lee the path to run into the wood again."

　Some days later when red-cap was again taking cakes to the old grandmother, another wolf spoke to her, and tried to entice(诱惑) her to the wood. Red-cap went straight forward on her way, and told her grandmother that she had met the wolf. He had said good-morning to her, but in his eyes there was a wicked look. If they were in the wood, the wolf would he eaten her up.

　"Well," said the grandmother, "we will shut the door, that he may not come in." Soon the wolf knocked, and cried, "open the door, grandmother, I am little red-cap, and am bringing you some cakes." But they did not speak, or open the door, so the gray wolf walked twice or thrice round the house, and at last jumped on the roof. He wanted to wait until red-cap went home in the evening, and then to devour her in the darkness. But the grandmother knew what he was going to do. In front of the house was a great stone trough(槽)槽, so she said to the child, "Take the pail(桶), red-cap. I made some sausages(香肠) yesterday, so carry the sausage water and I filled the trough." Red-cap carried until the great trough was quite full.

　Then the smell(气味) of the sausages reached the wolf, and he sniffed (吸气)and peeped down(向下看), and at last he stretched out (伸出)his neck so far that he began to slip(滑), and slipped down from the roof straight into the great trough, and was drowned(淹死).
